Gaining Insight into Women’s Core Needs, Expanding into Diverse Care Segments — Guangdong Industry Research Tour (Stop 4): Guangdong Magic Sanitary Articles Co., Ltd.

As one of the key industrial clusters in China’s hygiene products sector, Guangdong Province has not only fostered a number of nationally leading manufacturers but also brought together high-quality suppliers of raw materials and equipment, forming a well-developed and complete upstream and downstream industrial chain. In recent years, industry enterprises in Guangdong have achieved sustained high-quality growth through intelligent transformation, differentiated innovation, and stringent quality management.

On November 20, 2025, a delegation of five people—including Dr. Cao Zhenlei, former Chairman of the China Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry and Director of the Household Paper Professional Committee of the China Paper Association / Hygiene Products Professional Committee of the China Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry; Cao Baoping, Deputy Secretary-General of the Professional Committee and Vice President of the China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute; and Ge Jiming, Deputy Director of the Household Paper Center of the China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute—visited Guangdong Meijie Hygiene Products Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Guangdong Meijie”), accompanied by Zeng Min, Secretary-General of the Guangdong Hygiene Products Association. The delegation toured the company’s production workshops and product showroom and held in-depth discussions with Chairman Li Lichong, General Manager Zeng Yuxia, and other company executives.

Founded in 1989, Guangdong Meijie operates across multiple categories including feminine care, baby care, and adult care products. Its proprietary brands—“Meiyueshuang,” “BB Le,” and “Bulabu”—are sold nationwide and enjoy a strong reputation, particularly in Northwest, South China, and Southwest China.

At the same time, the company provides professional OEM manufacturing services, which account for approximately 40% of its business, forming a dual-driven business model that combines proprietary brands and contract manufacturing services.

Strengthening Manufacturing Capabilities and Building a Solid Foundation for Quality

Guangdong Meijie’s production base, located in Shunde, Foshan, operates more than 20 production lines with an annual capacity of 6 billion pieces. To maintain technological leadership and meet the evolving demands of the market, the company upgrades its equipment every three to four years. In recent years, it has introduced multiple fully servo-driven, high-precision sanitary napkin production lines, continuously reinforcing its manufacturing strength through regular technological upgrades.

The company is certified under the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and holds EU CE certification. Its production workshops strictly follow international manufacturing standards, operate under cleanroom control procedures, and are supported by high-standard laboratories. From raw material intake to finished product delivery, every stage undergoes rigorous testing to ensure that each product meets high-quality standards.

Functional Upgrades and Personalized Design: Creating Differentiated Feminine Hygiene Products

In the face of intense market competition, Guangdong Meijie remains committed to a path of differentiated innovation, standing out through functional enhancements and personalized design. The company continuously upgrades its manufacturing processes and develops new sanitary napkin products each year in response to evolving market demands. In 2018, Meijie launched a floating sanitary napkin with three-dimensional leak guards, and has since iteratively improved the product to deliver better leak protection and greater comfort.

With keen insight into female consumers’ desire for aesthetics, Guangdong Meijie independently designs topsheet materials featuring distinctive patterns such as cotton motifs and crowns, supported by customized mold design and production. This allows sanitary napkins to serve not only as care products but also as carriers of aesthetics and personal expression. The company also continues to explore new absorbent core materials and optimize core structures—such as dry-laid paper composite SAP—making products thinner, softer, and more absorbent. Through sustained investment in innovation, Guangdong Meijie has secured 3 invention patents, 15 utility model patents, and 17 design patents.

Building a Smart New Factory, Expanding Adult Care Capacity, and Entering the Pet Care Market

To overcome space limitations at its old facility and improve production efficiency, Guangdong Meijie has invested in a 90,000 m² smart factory in Sanshui, Foshan. The factory is being built in two phases: Phase I was completed in 2023, and Phase II began in July 2025, with full completion expected by August 2026. The new facility will feature automated production lines, intelligent warehousing systems, and dedicated office and employee living areas, ensuring a well-organized separation of production and daily life.

Once operational, the smart factory will further enhance the company’s capabilities in intelligent manufacturing and customized services, supporting continuous expansion in domestic and international markets. While strengthening its core feminine care products, Meijie has also recently developed high-end adult care products, successfully entering markets such as Taiwan and Hong Kong with odor-control features. The new factory will boost production capacity for adult incontinence products and expand into light incontinence and pet care segments, creating diversified avenues for business growth.

Director Cao Zhenlei praised Guangdong Meijie for its 36 years of dedication to the industry and continuous innovation, while also acknowledging the company’s forward-looking strategy in actively advancing smart factory construction and expanding into diversified business segments. With the smart factory set to commence operations in 2026, it is believed that Guangdong Meijie will continue to deepen product innovation and enhance production efficiency, consolidating its core strength in feminine care while steadily developing new segments such as light incontinence and pet care, moving steadily toward a more diversified and high-quality future.
